Blood is a fluid connective tissue. Its quantity is 6.8 lit in man and 500ml less in women. Constitutes 6-8% of body weight and has a pH of 7.4 .
RBC
RBC are disc shaped, no nucleolus contain a pigment called hemoglobin which gives red colour and transports oxygen and carbon dioxide. Manufactured in red bone marrow. Life is of 120 days.
WBC
WBC are rounded with nucleolus and also manufactured in red bone marrow. Act as the soldiers of body defense system.
PLATELETS
are rounded with nucleolus and also manufactured in red bone marrow. They help to clot the blood.
