Vitamins

Vitamins are those which we get from our diet they are necessary for normal growth, good health, good vision, proper digestion of the body. They do not provide energy to our body.
Vitamins are of two types:-
·       Water soluble- vitamin B-complex, vitamin-c
·       Fat soluble- vitamin A,D,E and K
Vitamin A- The chemical name of vitamin A is retinol.
They provide general health to body and it is deficiency cause night blindness.
 Vitamin B1- its chemical name is thiamin and it help in functioning of heart. It deficiency cause Beriberi.
 Vitamin B2- Its chemical name is riboflavin. It helps in keeping skin and mouth healthy. Its deficiency causes cheilosis.
VitaminB5- Its chemical names is niacin and help in keeping skin healthy. It deficiency cause pellagra.
VitaminB6-its chemical name is pyridoxine and help in processing of protein and for nervous system . its deficiency causes convulsion in child.
VitaminB12-Its chemical name is cynacobalamin and required for formation and maturation of RBCs. Its deficiency causes pernicious anemia.
Vitamin C-Its chemical name is ascorbic acid and help in keeping teeth, gums. and joints. And deficiency causes scurvy.
Vitamin D –Its chemical name is calciferol and help in normal bones and teeth. It deficiency causes rickets.
Vitamin E-Its chemical name is tocopherol and help in normal reproduction, removes scars and wrinkles. It causes sterility.
Vitamin K- Its chemical name is phylloquinune and help in normal clothing of blood. Its deficiency causes haemophillia.
